Robots weren't putting people out of jobs as people thought they would, but some robots were putting people out of jobs in the early 1900's. Such as the car, it was putting people out of jobs who use to carry people around in station wagons, trains and other types of transport which costed money. Robots started taking peoples jobs away who had worked in factories. There were machines for making cars and other things like putting lids on beer bottles and so on. This took away some jobs because the machines were much more accurate, cheaper and faster than humans were at doing these tasks. But it did require factory operators and engineers to fix machines and make sure they're running. The first Robotic factory machine ever made was produced in 1948 by William Grey Walters in England who created the first electronic autonomous factory.
